The Day Care Ward is specially designed for patients who require a short stay of several hours before and after surgery or procedures. It provides a one-stop service, including pre-operative assessment or preparation, post-operative nursing care and recovery, and other minor procedures such as intravenous infusion or post-radiological procedure recovery.

Most day surgery patients are suitable for admission into this day care ward. They can recover quickly from the short stay and benefit from paying less than an inpatient bed.

The following patients are welcome to use the Day Care Ward:

• Most day surgery patients
• To be discharged in 2 – 3 hours after surgery / procedure
• Have no anticipated complications
• Require no close observation / monitoring or substantial nursing care

Opening hours
Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm (except Public Holidays)

Patients who require continuing hospitalisation must be transferred to another ward after the day care ward is closed at 7:00 pm.
