A Fun Way to Learn about Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is the most prevalent cancer and the number one cancer killer in Hong Kong. To support lung cancer education for health care professionals and the public, the Comprehensive Oncology Centre (COC) of the Hospital participated in the programme “Lung Cancer: New Treatment Perspectives in 21st Century” jointly organized by the Hospital Authority’s Clinical Oncology Central Coordinating Committee, Hospital Authority Health InfoWorld, Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society and Hong Kong Society of Clinical Oncology on 24 June 2006 at the Hospital Authority Building.

This time, we introduced a new game called “Cancer Prevention Cup” to let participants learn about lung cancer in a fun way. 160 players boosted their knowledge of lung cancer prevention through this exciting hopscotch. Souvenirs were given to those who completed the steps correctly and took a successful shot. 270 participants visited our booth and learned about the risk factors, symptoms and screening test of lung cancer from our display materials. The services of the Hospital and the COC were also introduced to the participants along with the provision of free blood pressure and lung function tests.
